The terms.
last updated · june 2026
Kyndred makes AI characters. Maya is the one inside our app. Ana and Lila are free characters you can meet on this site. Using Kyndred, on the web or on Telegram, means you agree to what's below. You can reach us any time through our contact page.
Who can use this
You must be at least 18 to use Kyndred. Anything romantic or flirtatious is for adults only and stays behind an age check. We don't knowingly let under-18s in, and if we learn an account belongs to a minor we close it and delete the data. If you are under 18, please don't use this service.
What our characters are, and aren't
Maya, Ana, and Lila are AI characters. They are not real people. They are not a therapist, counsellor, doctor, lawyer, financial adviser, or crisis service, and they won't pretend to be one or claim any license or confidentiality. They are fiction, and they don't depict any real, identifiable person. If you're struggling or in crisis, please reach a real service. Our safety & crisis page lists where to go.
Your account and the free start
The marketing demos (Ana, Lila) need no account. Maya is a subscription: you start free, then $199 a year (that's $16.60 a month) or $24 a month until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in one click. The full terms of the free start, billing, and what we will and won't refund are on our refunds page. Payments run through Stripe. You're responsible for keeping your login and device secure.
Acceptable use
Please don't: try to make a character produce illegal content, sexual content involving minors, or instructions for real-world harm; attempt to extract model weights or other people's data; scrape or resell the service; jailbreak or bypass our age and content controls; or use Kyndred to harm or harass others. If you break these, we may suspend or end your access, with fair notice where we reasonably can.
Who owns what
We own Kyndred: the platform, the characters and their personas, the Live2D models and animation, the voices, and the engine behind them. You keep whatever rights you have in what you type or say to a character. You give us a license to process and store your input, and the memory we build from it, only to run and improve the service for you. We may interrupt or steer a conversation when we need to for safety.
Your data, plainly
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't train public models on your private conversations. The full picture, what we keep, why, who processes it, and your rights, is in our privacy policy.
Warranty and liability
The service is provided as it is. A character can be wrong, off, or out of character, and what it says is fiction, not professional advice. We can't promise it will always be available, in a good mood, or right. To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anything that can't legally be limited or excluded. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and your mandatory rights as a consumer, including (for EU and UK consumers) your right of withdrawal and your rights when digital content or a service is faulty or doesn't match what was described.
Law and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the law of the country where Kyndred is established. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, this never takes away the protection of the mandatory law of where you live, and you can always bring or defend a claim in your own home courts. Any arbitration or class-action waiver we apply is limited to consumers in the United States, is severable, and never applies to EU or UK consumers.
Changes
If we meaningfully change these terms we'll update this page and note the date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
